Good morning everyone. It is so good to be here with you this day. My name is the Rev. Kristen Yates. I am an Anglican priest who has served as a church planter for the last decade in various parts of our country. I also am a trained spiritual director and missional formation coach, and I currently serve as the Associate Pastor for Spiritual Formation and Congregational Care at an Anglican church plant called the Mission Cincinnati. As I begin today, I want to sincerely thank you for inviting me to be at Asbury to give this talk this morning. It is my privilege to be able to do so. I am just also excited to be among you. You are my kinds of people. For chances are, if you are here this morning or listening in on this talk at a later time, you have been taken hold of by God’s great love for you and by His great love for His world. You have been called and gifted to proclaim the Kingdom of God in both word and deed, and now you are here to learn and train so that you can be released into the world to be on Mission with God. How exciting, and how blessed you are. As for me, I can always remember when I first got the Mission bug. I was 22 years old and on a short-term mission trip to China to teach English to middle school English teachers. Though I had majored in Biology in college and intended to go into the environmental field, I had felt God’s nudge during my senior year in college to pursue this opportunity, and so I did.
